They entered the dark superstore cautiously.  They didn’t want to cause any unnecessary  noise.  They didn’t know if any of the strange animals were around and they needed to be very stealthy to get all of their friends out safely.

“Okay, ready”?  KoonKoon whispered.  Everyone nodded in agreement.  They split off silently into two groups.  KoonKoon, Dean and Gromit set off SouthWest while the others headed East.  The three of them watched as Jeremy, Momo and the shark, Codename: Smiley headed out.

“Alright Dean, where did you and Cassie leave the car”?  KoonKoon asked.  Dean went to speak but Gromit jumped in first.

“Oi mate, I saw it over ‘ere”, the dog pointed over to the left.  “I’ll go get it and bring it round”, he said before scampering off.  After a minute KoonKoon said “I’m going to go … check on … Gromit”, then he set off, fully aware of why Gromit had sauntered off.  He rounded the corner and there Gromit was, snout deep into a giant brick of cheese.  *squeak* went KoonKoon with excitement.

“Here mate”, Gromit said, handing over a generous portion of cheese.  KoonKoon could tell he was enjoying the cheese because he had actually taken off his favorite sunglasses.

“Thank … you… “, KoonKoon said.  “Leave it to you pal to sniff out the cheese when we haven’t seen any in months”, he said with a huge grin.

“No problem pal, fancy a bicci”, Gromit asked.  He handed KoonKoon a Ritz cracker.  KoonKoon knew he would do anything to have some real biscuts, just like Dean would kill for some pie but sadly supplies were limited.  Gromit kept searching but he knew Gromit was always haunted by the ghosts of biscuits past.

Before KoonKoon could answer.  They heard “Come on guys, really?

They turned around knowing they were caught.  “Sorry Dean, we don’t have any pie but ere’s some Fig Newtons”, Gromit said, handing them over.

Dean took a bite and said, “These will have to do”.  “The car’s loaded up and we’re a couple of minutes away from go time.

“Ok, let’s head back to …”  Gromit froze and stared at KoonKoon in panic.  There were four tally marks with a fifth crossing them on KoonKoon’s fur that weren’t there a second ago.  There were another four on his arm.  Gromit was still staring when KoonKoon tossed a black marker to him and busted up laughing uncontrollably, while Gromit did as well.

“You Muppet”, Gromit said and punched him lightly on the arm.  “I guess inside jokes are as good of a thing as any to live for now a days”, he said with a laugh.

They walked to the car and they got ready to move out.

Momo and the others looked around their surroundings as they walked.  They were contemplating how best to complete their goal.  They were an interesting looking group for certain.  Momo the wily red fox, Jeremy the tall and lanky sock monkey and the blue shark Codename Smiley.  Jeremy and Smiley were quiet for the most part.  They were pretty new to Stuffed Haven and neither Momo nor KoonKoon had gone on any runs with them yet.

“Alright boys, let’s do this”  Jeremy said and the boys nodded in response.  They set off down the aisle.  Seemingly looking for food and supplies, but they made just enough noise to attract the attention of any onlookers.

Momo and Smiley walked on ahead.  Jeremy trailed at a safe distance then jetted in the opposite direction while the others were distracted.  He paused, ensuring hadn’t noticed his absence.  He tied his bandana around his head and crept off into the darkness.  “Rambo ain’t got nothing on me”.

“Alright mate , that’s the signal”, Gromit said to Dean as heard the ruckus the others were making.  Dean started the engine and began to roll the car forward, as silently as possible.  “Hello .. Hello … Can anyone hear me?  Come in Gromit … KoonKoon”, came the voice from the tablet Gromit was holding.

Gromit looked down and at the tablet.  “Sorry, love just a few adjustments”, Gromit said to the Android phone he was holding.  Even in the zombie apocalypse, they would never use an iPhone   The phones were so big that the animals regarded them as tablets.  “Hello love, how are doing Pinky, How’re LB and Doomun”, he asked the bear on the screen.

“We’re fine here”, had a bit of an increase in trouble here.  But we’ve got it covered, for now.  Even got to use me cannons the other day”, she said with a huge grin.

“Hey Pinky”, KoonKoon said excitedly but in a whisper.  Pinky was the head of their Hampshire team in England.  She was a very kind and loving bear who had a fierce edge to her.  She could hold her own against anyone and anything.  Koon Koon couldn’t imagine anything ever taking her down, especially not a zombie.  Her fella LB and little brother couldn’t have better protection anywhere.  She had two magnificent cannons that she loved to fire but unfortunately opportunities were scarcer now because of the zombies that the cannon booms would attract.

“So how is she, did you get her yet”, Pinky asked , her little bear face twisting with concern.

“We haven’t gotten her yet, we’re almost there”, Gromit answered.  “We must be silent now”, Gromit said and Pinky nodded.  She had been briefed on the plan before they embarked.

They drove along as silently as possible, their tiny hearts beating anxiously in their fluffy little chests.  Dean turned off the headlights as they approached the first aid aisle where Bobby and Nambi were trapped.

They all looked to Gromit who nodded and hopped silently out of the car.  Gromit was the best spy in Stuffed Haven by far.  He stealthily crept around aisle ways and display fronts.  He crept and ducked and rolled his way to the end of the aisle way where their friends were trapped.  He disappeared from sight and then peered around the corner, giving them a nod.

Dean seeing that the area was clear,  rolled the car forward to the blockage.  He hopped out of the car, leaving it running.   “Where is he”, Dean said looking off into the darkness.

“Don’t strain your eyes Dean, I’m here”, Jeremy said as he emerged from the darkness.  “I got it, is everything set”, he asked.

“Yup we’re ready”, Dean said.   Jeremy handed him the rope.  It was his secret mission to sneak off and get it while Momo and Smiley caused a distraction for any of the other animals that may be nearby.

Dean saw Jeremy put the sample size Axe body spray and the book of matches in his bag.  Dean rolled his eyes.  “Leave it to you to find a way to make a flamethrower”.

“What? I’ve got to make sure Rudy and the others are protected”, he replied with a smirk.

Dean hooked up the rope to the car and tied the other end around the humidifier.

He was worried, they didn’t hear any responses when they called out to their trapped friends.  “Ok, let’s do this fast”, Dean said as he hopped behind the wheel.  “Everyone stand back”, he said and started revving the engine.  He reversed slowly at first, and then increased speed slowly.

When he got to full speed, the blockage still wouldn’t budge.  Dean switched between forward and reverse hoping to move it using momentum but to no avail.  Gromit and KoonKoon ran towards the blockage and began to push from the other side.  They pushed but it wouldn’t move so they stepped back and ran forward to shove it.  On the third try, it finally worked.

Dean killed the engine.  “Thank you baby”, he said to the car.  “I can always depend on you”.  Dean really loved that black car.

“La la la la la”, they heard and ran to the hollowed space.  It was Nambi, they’d know her lovely singing anywhere.  KoonKoon knocked on the “door” to the space.

“Nambi, Bobby open up it’s us   The fluffelry is here”, he said.  Wow he realized how much his dorky mom had rubbed off on him.

They opened up the door and KoonKoon saw them sitting down and playing cards.  Even the little bunny was playing with them.  “Nambi, Bobby”!

Everyone rushed in to hug Nambi and tell her how much they missed her.  “We couldn’t hear you, we were so worried”, Dean said.

“Oh that”, Nambi said with a blush.  “It was a super rare triple jinx.  Couldn’t pass that up”, she said with a giggle.

They knew Bobby wasn’t much for hugs but they attacked him as well.  “Ger off you sillies”, he started.  “Oh what the hell”, he said and hugged them all back.

Jeremy almost tackled Nambi, he hugged her so hard. And if he didn’t know any better, he thought he saw tears in Pinky’s eyes, nah it must’ve just been the glare.

Momo and Smiley whistled up ahead.  KoonKoon looked up at Momo who nodded at him.  Alright, action time, he thought.  He looked over at the little bunny who seemed very sad that no one was there for him.

“Ooh, everyone, this is Erin.  He is very nice and we had a lot of fun even though we were stuck”, Nambi said to everyone.  “He is just a little bunny and he’s very scared because he doesn’t know anyone.  His friends are gone and he can’t be on his own”.

“Oh poor Erin.  Don’t worry, you won’t be alone.  You can come with us if you want to Stuffed Haven.  It’s our sanctuary and everyone is super friendly and they would love to have you there.  You should meet my mom, she would love to meet you and she’s really nice, all of the humans are”, KoonKoon said.

The bunny’s eyes got really big and he looked terrified.   “Humans”!  “Oh no, I can’t, they’ll try to hurt me and make me reveal where my camp is.  HE always says that humans are evil, I’m too scared”.  The bunny looked like he was about to cry.

“I don’t know who HE is but he sounds like an idjit”, Bobby said.  “The humans at Stuffed Haven are really nice and they do everything they can to help all of the kids.  Both stuffed and human alike.  You’ll be safe with us kid”, he finished.

“Or if you want, we can help you get back to your friends.  You don’t have to tell us where your camp is, we will figure out a way to keep it a secret.  The choice is up to you.  We would never leave you alone”, KooonKoon said.

Momo and Smiley walked forward to meet with the rest of the group.  Momo walked past KoonKoon and casually said “On the hook” in a low voice.

“Got it”, KoonKoon responded.  “Ok guys you can come out, we know you’re there”, Koonkoon said loudly to the darkness.  There was no response.  “We know you’re there. We are here in peace and your friend here is safe”.

The animal they heard named Carissa ran straight to the little bunny and he ran to her in turn, once he saw her.

“Carissa no”, yelled a disembodied voice coming from the darkness.

“Oh are you ok Eri are you hurt”, she asked the little bunny.

“No, I am ok, Nambi is very nice and she helped me when I was scared and sang me lots of lovely songs”, he said, looking towards Nambi.  “Bobby was very kind, he helped me to feel safe, he told me lots of stories and taught me lots of stuff.  They both were very nice and I don’t know what I would have done by myself.  “KoonKoon and his friends saved all of us”.

Carissa looked to KoonKoon and his heart skipped at the tears in her eyes.  “Thank you”, she said.  “I don’t know how to thank you for saving him”.

KoonKoon was not used to crying girls and was caught off guard.  “It’s ok, we were happy to help save this little guy.  We offered to take him to Stuffed Haven but now that you’re here you can take him of course.  The choice is up to you.  He hasn’t said anything but he seems really scared of something in your camp”, he said to her.

“Athen”, come out now.  “We are fine and they are friendly”, she called out to the darkness.

The owl from before stepped out and approached them slowly.  “Athen, they have offered to take Eri to their camp.  I have already discussed it with her, I think it is best”.

Athen sighed and reluctantly nodded.  “I suppose that would be best”, he responded.  He turned to KoonKoon, “We have surveiled your camp from the outside and monitored some of the runs you have made.  I fear that the safest place for him will be with you.  Things are … complicated back at our camp.

They heard the loud noise again, the one that had caused all of the other animals to flee before.  “He’s found us”, Carissa said.  “—- we have to go, are you ok with them”, she asked.  The bunny nodded.  “Ok, Eri I love you, I will see you soon”.

“Thank you”, she said to KoonKoon and held his gaze.  There was something odd about her, he thought.  He nodded and she and Athen ran off.

“KoonKoon”, the voice came over the com.  “We have to go now, there is a situation out here come out now we’ve got to go.

They turned at his mom’s voice and all ran towards the exit to see what was going on.
