Dear Diary,
June has been a busy month. Today I am going to try the third person voice again. A lot of people really liked it and actually said that I should write books for children! It’s a very exciting idea.
On the tone of his alarm, KoonKoon woke up very excited; today his mother and one of her best humans, Ariel, or Ari as she was also called, were taking him to Yard House at the Promenade mall in Temecula. He could barely contain his excitement and counted down the hours until 2:50 p.m. He got ready and waited for Momo to show up with his new game. Momo was so funny, he had put it in a brown paper bag and he pretended to act shady while he made “the drop”.
Now Momo had to leave and they took a selfie to post on quikagram to show off the new game. He waited as his mom pulled out her make-up and he impatiently sat by while she began to apply it.
“Seriously, you have to start that now, come on mom, it already 2:30 p.m. it’s going to take you forever”, he said to her. “It always does”, he added grumpily.
“Now settle down or you won’t be going at all”, she told him and he knew he should have just stayed quiet.
“Ok, I’m sorry mom”, he said quite a bit less sulkily and he turned his attention to the t.v. to see a big black dragon with a damaged tail flying around with a boy on his back. It was one of his favorite movies but he was filled with too much anticipation. He switched on to the PS3 and started his new game. He had to fly around in a giant blue box that looked like a phone booth, he was steering it away from weird robots armed with whisks and plungers. This game was based off of one of his and mommy’s favorite t.v. shows. Then all of a sudden, the doorbell rang.
Wow she must be here, he thought and he hopped right up and opened the door to greet Ariel, she was happy to see him and gave him a big hug. He finally managed to drag his mom through the door and then they were off. KoonKoon hopped into the backseat of the blue car (Ariel had a lot of cars). They headed off and KoonKoon just tuned them out. Ariel was something about boys and vitamins, I think, he didn’t follow, pretty weird.
Soon they got to the center and Ariel randomly stopped at a health food store. KoonKoon and the group walked around and when they got to the cooler, he couldn’t believe it. Water served in a box?! It was madness, so beyond crazy.
Then suddenly, it seemed to KoonKoon, they were done and Ariel got the food she needed for her smaller humans at home. They girls had changed their minds and decided to have sushi instead. KoonKoon was so thrilled, he loved sushi, it was one of his favorite food types ever. The sushi was delicious, especially the eel and the House Special Roll, which was smothered with Sriacha Mayo. He had never tried it before but it was so delicious! He pretended he was a waiter because his little plate was the perfect size. “Edamame anyone, on the house”? “My top secret mouth watering recipe”.
After two rounds they had eaten until they were super full.
Ready to go, Ariel got a to go box and they moved to the jewelry store, Icing. Ariel wanted to buy mom a pair of earings but mom was worried she might be allergic because she is allergic to the nickel in almost all costume or fake jewelry. She chose a pair of really pretty nautical earrings; one was an anchor and the other was a pretty teal starfish. Mom put them on right away because they were so pretty.
KoonKoon was startled as they ran when they saw the display; half Clueless, half Mean Girls. They were so excited but KoonKoon, being a boy didn’t understand this shopping thing. He knew his mom didn’t either and usually wouldn’t bother but she seemed to be really enjoying it today, but he knew that was because she was with Ariel.
The group hit the Disney Store next. “Oh my … goodness …”, KoonKoon was so speechless. He jumped up and down and ran to the castle. He knew he had to send a picture to his friend Kiki Bear. So he did his best princely pose and his mom took the picture.
“Wow, the picture came out so well, I can’t wait to send it to Kiki”, he said excitedly. He ran off to explore the other sections and everything he could ever want was there. Frozen, Merida, Star Wars, Marvel and so much more.
“Mom look, Marvel”, he pointed out because he knew she had almost a thousand comics and almost all of them were Marvel; X-Men mostly.
KoonKoon, could barely bring himself to leave, especially the Star Wars section. But they made their way outside and back to the car. Ariel was going to take them home to hang out but the car wouldn’t start. KoonKoon was really worried because he was the male and wanted to take care of the women but he knew nothing about cars, whatsoever.
Ariel called her husband John and he took his brother Josh to go and help mom and Ariel. They waited and listened to music looking at their purchases until the guys got there.
For some reason, as soon as John got there, the car started right up. KoonKoon had no idea why. They decided that they all should hang out together now so we all headed home. This seemed to work out well because for some reason Ariel really wanted mom to meet Josh. KoonKoon had no idea why but he shrugged it off and jumped into the Mustang. Must be some weird grown up human thing.
After they arrived, KoonKoon decided to go to his Cloom (His room was a cupboard under the stairs, like Harry Potter’s but much nicer. Since it was a closet and a room, grandma named it his Cloom.) The adults played Apples to Apples and Hangman on our giant dry erase board wall. It sounded like they were having a lot of fun.
Right when he got to his Cloom, KoonKoon realized just how tired he really was so he decided to lie down and catch up with Tyrion and Danaerys. He was still two episodes behind and he need to see the finale. Oh he hated spoilers more than anything. His mom always said that if there was a ranking of sins. There was murder and then right barely beneath that was telling spoilers, she was always joking, of course. She’s silly like that.
Yawning he closed the cloom door and settled in for the night.
And then he addressed his Diary again, as that day’s chapter had come to an end.
It was so much fun Diary and I got lots of cool stuff.
Goodnight Diary Until Tomorrow,
KoonKoon The Mallrat
